Today is day 5 of watching our plants grow. And I literally mean watching! Sara checks them every day, and many times goes to just sit and watch them for a couple minutes at a time.
I'm happy to say that Sara and I were very excited when we got home today! Of course, since Sara insists, the first thing we do is go to check our seedlings.
And today when we looked inside, there they were. A few of the tiniest little sprouts, seven to be exact! So far we have 3 pea plants peeking out, 2 lettuce, and 2 sunflowers. Hopefully we'll get a few more each day until all the cups have cute little green seedlings reaching out to us.
Good thing its suppose to be almost 80 on Saturday. I think I might need to prep the yard a little sooner than I thought! I can't wait to taste these yummy veggies in a few short months.
Working to explain how this mother raises this child, and all the mess that comes with it.

New Hobby
Sara has been learning about plants and spring at preschool for the last couple weeks. They started growing pea plants, and she's become obsessed now. She thinks its totally awesome and wants to now plant a garden.
I've always wanted to plant a garden since I've lived in this house (8 years now), and just never done it. Life always got in the way. I have a huge yard, and it has multiple spots that would be perfect for a garden. So this year I'm taking the plunge! It should be interesting since I don't exactly have a green thumb, but its something Sara and I can do together. And who knows, maybe it'll even get Sara to eat veggies if she knows she grew them herself.
Today we planted our seeds in a tray, and then we will transfer the seedlings in to the yard in a couple of months. I have to prep the yard of course, but its still a little too cold for that. I decided to try and grow a garden from seeds purely because its cheaper. Gardening can be really expensive!
Of course I took pics!
There are 50 seedlings in this tray, including bell peppers, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, green beans, pumpkins, carrots, and sunflowers (the really tall ones). If they all germinate, then I will probably give half the plants away. But I wanted to have enough chances for some things to grow because I want Sara to be successful trying something new.
I also planted in smaller tubs (just for us grown ups) some strawberries and a mini herb garden. I know that there won't be any strawberries this year, but I've always wanted my own strawberry patch and I figured now is as good a time as any to get it started.
So there you have it, only time will tell if my thumb is green enough to pull this off. I've never been overly successful at growing anything from seeds, but I got lots of great advice from people that have. Hopefully I did it right!

This is the plant that started it all. Its the pea plant that she grew in preschool.
Here are some pics of Sara helping to put the dirt into the cups, followed by the seeds, and then watering them at the end. It was lots of fun, and messy (my favorite...not)!
Sara also picked out some markers for when the plants go outside. Of course, they have Mickey Mouse and friends on them!

Some Friday Humor!
I saw this on another blog while looking for something else totally unrelated. I found it so funny I just had to share it with all of you. Its not my typical kind of topics, but who cares. Its Friday!!
-Enjoy!
Things Everyone Thinks (and no one says)!
I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.
I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.
There is a great need for sarcasm font.
Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the hell was going on when I first saw it.
I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the
right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the only one who really, really gets it.
How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
The only time I look forward to a red light is when I¹m trying to finish a text.
A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.
LOL has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".
I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.
Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".
How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?
Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using 'as in' examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss's last name to an attorney and said "Yes that's G as in...(10 second lapse)..ummm...Goonies"
MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?
Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from, this shouldn't be a problem....
Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.
I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren't watching this. It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?'
I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.
I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.
As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.
I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.
Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...
My 4-year old asked me in the car the other day "Mommy what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?
I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.
I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.
Hope you got at least one laugh out of this!! I know I did!!

I can breath!
After spending this weekend resting as much as possible, and drinking lots of fluids, I am feeling much better. I still have some healing to do, but at this point I'm pretty sure I will be able to avoid being hospitalized as long as I continue to not push my limits too much.
Sara's dad was nice enough to take Sara early this weekend so that I could just lay around and sleep. I owe him (and his parents) a very big thank you for taking her so that I could get better! I hope they know how much I appreciate their help, and that I am very grateful to them because I probably won't have to be admitted.
I plan to spend the next couple days resting, so that I'm almost back to normal when I pick Sara up on Tuesday. I will be at work some, but probably only half days for today and maybe tomorrow.

Health Update
I'm happy to report that Sara is doing much better! I'm not so lucky.
My appointment didn't go so well today. I woke up feeling much worse today, so I was glad I had scheduled an appointment yesterday.
Turns out I have the beginnings of pneumonia. If I haven't improved by Monday, I might be headed to the hospital. So this weekend will be filled with rest, fluids, antibiotics, and more rest.

'Tis the season...
...for nasty, icky germs!
Sara's been sick for almost 2 weeks now with no sign of getting better, so I finally took her to the doctor this morning. I was worried she might have developed pneumonia. Thank goodness its only a sinus infection!
And since I've also had whatever this wonderful bug is for about 4 days now, and its still getting worse, I'm heading to the doctor as well tomorrow. I assume I will have the same result...antibiotics.
I just don't want her to get better and finish her medicine, and then I still be sick and her catch it again. I just want this crude out of our house so we can go back to doing all the fun things we normally do, especially since its supposed to be really nice this weekend!

Spring Fever and a New Design
I know that I've been out of touch for a while! Life's been crazy and I just haven't had the time to jump on and blog. But I forced myself to find time to give my blog a face lift. It was time!
Spring is right around the corner, and I can feel it in the air. Its been almost 60 every day here, and super sunny and beautiful. Sara and I have really been enjoying the nice weather, spending time outside before dinner riding her bike and coloring with sidewalk chalk.
With that said though, its suppose to snow tomorrow. No surprise since March and April are our snowiest months of the year. Hopefully it won't be long before the sun and warmth are back! And when it is, I promise to get some new pics of Sara playing outside for all of you to see!
